Waste and E-Waste Management is a big issue in Liberia and many African countries. That’s why Mipad Africa is Promoting Environmental Protection and Sustainable Waste and E-Waste Management
Empowering Liberia’s Clean Future with Waste and E-waste Management
🌿 Leading Waste and E-Waste Management for a Healthier Environment
Environmental Protection | Climate Solutions | Circular Economy in Africa
In an era where environmental degradation threatens both livelihoods and ecosystems, waste and e-waste management has become a critical necessity—especially in fast-growing nations like Liberia. As part of our core development pillars, MIPAD Africa Development is spearheading innovative environmental programs designed to reduce pollution, create green jobs, and promote clean energy use in homes and communities across the country.
Moreover, our approach doesn’t just address the symptoms—it tackles the root causes. By combining clean cooking technologies, plastic recycling ventures, and e-waste circular economy programs, MIPAD is turning waste into wealth, wellness, and work opportunities for thousands of Liberians.
🔥 Clean Cooking Technology for Low-Income Households in Liberia
Solar E-Stoves | Household Air Pollution Reduction | Women Empowerment
To begin with, one of our flagship solutions in waste and e-waste management focuses on replacing traditional stoves with solar-powered, multipurpose electric cookstoves. These advanced clean cooking technologies are designed not only to lower household air pollution, but also to reduce deforestation and improve public health.
Furthermore, these stoves allow families in both urban and rural Liberia to cook, bake, and boil water safely and efficiently. Through strategic distribution partnerships with international clean energy manufacturers, we are ensuring that 500,000 households gain access to clean energy alternatives.
Additionally, by shifting away from charcoal, we’re helping 30,000 members of the national charcoal trade union find alternative livelihoods in small businesses and renewable energy sales. As a result, deforestation decreases, while economic resilience increases.
👩🏿🔧 Empowering Women and Youth Through Green Jobs
Female-Led Businesses | Solar Cooking Enterprises | Climate Resilience Training
Because access to clean energy creates time, health, and business potential, MIPAD’s program also focuses on women and girls. While traditional cooking methods often demand hours of firewood collection, our clean cookstoves eliminate this burden, freeing time for education, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Moreover, we support the creation of 500,000 small businesses led by women and youth—producing cookies, cornbread, and baked goods using their solar cookstoves. These micro-enterprises will significantly improve household income, nutrition, and rural economies.
With over 5,000 communities set to receive climate awareness training, we are building long-term climate resilience and social equity—starting from the kitchen up.
In fact, by 2035, our goal is to train and place over 30,000 skilled nurses and midwives into the national job market. These professionals will serve in hospitals, clinics, community health centers, and emergency medical teams across the country.
Additionally, by partnering with international medical institutions and NGOs, we will ensure ongoing education and certification to maintain global best practices.
♻️ Scaling Plastic Waste Recycling Across Liberia
Plastic Waste Economy | Community Recycling Centers | Eco-Friendly Products
Besides energy, waste and e-waste management must include a solution to Liberia’s plastic crisis. That’s why MIPAD is developing regional plastic recycling centers that collect, process, and repurpose plastic waste into:
-
School materials
 -
Plastic tiles
 -
Reusable packaging
 -
Bottles and homeware

Through these initiatives, we aim to engage over 500 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in a circular economy that turns waste into business opportunities.
In addition, by raising awareness around coastal area pollution and the Basel Convention, we are ensuring that policy reform and community engagement go hand-in-hand for long-term impact.
💻 Revolutionizing E-Waste Management in Liberia
Electronic Waste Treatment | Circular Economy | Global Recycling Partnerships
E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in Africa. Yet, it often goes ignored—until now. As part of our waste and e-waste management strategy, MIPAD will establish three regional e-waste treatment centers focused on:
-
Batteries
 -
Mobile phones
 -
Flat screens
 -
Laptops and circuit boards

Not only will these centers recycle and recover valuable materials, but they will also engage 500+ informal SMEs in responsible collection and processing practices.
Additionally, by forming export partnerships with global e-waste recyclers, we are turning dangerous pollution into a viable revenue stream for Liberia—while complying with the Basel Convention and EPR regulations.
